The aim of this thesis is to formulate recommendations for communication strategy for institutions involved in the prevention of food waste. The communication strategy should raise the awareness of the problem of food waste and the activities of involved institutions among the people, what should lead to the reduction of food waste. The results are based on findings from questionnaire survey (n = 406 and in-depth interviews (n = 41). The thesis provided recommendations for the Food bank of Brno and the South Moravian Region and other institutions involved in the prevention of food wastage.

Skoupá, D. Evaluation of stakeholders on the obligations arising from the amend-ment of the Law on foodstuffs and tabacco products. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2018. The thesis deals with the evaluation of stakeholders preparedness (sellers and non-profit organizations) on the duty arising from the new Law no. 180/2016 Coll. amending Law no. 110/1997 Coll. on foodstuffs and tabacco products. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the readiness of these subjects for legislative change requiring establishments with a sales area over 400 m2 to be obligated to donate harmless food to non-profit organizations. On the basis of the analysis sec-ondary and primary data gained from stakeholder representatives, requirements related to the obligations of individual entities are identified. The readiness is evaluated according to the defined terms and their satisfactory fulfilment. On the basis of the evaluation of the data obtained, it can be stated that sellers are fully prepared for the obligations under the law and non-profit organizations are only partially prepared. The thesis contains proposals to ensure obligations arising from legislative changes.
Changes in the Activity of the Food Bank Following the Amendment to Act No. 110/97 Coll.

The objective of this thesis is to identify changes in the area of food banks in the Czech Republic which were made after the amendment to the Act on Food and Tobacco Products had entered into effect.The practical part includes a survey performed at the level of 14 food banks which are members of the Czech Federation of Food Banks. In the next section of the practical part, changes effected in the Food Bank of the South Bohemian Region after the amendment entered into effect were identified. Main changes and measures which had to be adopted are explained for the food redistribu-tion process.

The aim of this work is to introduce food aid and food banks in the Czech Republic. The thesis deals mainly with the characteristics and distribution of terms related to food aid and food banks. It seaks to highlight the importance of food aid and the importance of connection with food banks and organizations seeking to fight hunger and food waste. What is important here us the introduction of the projects behind the co-operation of food banks and organizations. Part of the thesis also deals with registered social services in the territory of České Budějovice. Specifically, there are four registered social services, who are covered by the organization Town/Municipal Charity České Budějovice, and which actively cooperate with the Food Bank.

e main aim of bachelor´s thesis is to realise theme of food wastage, both in the context of sustainable development and from the point of view of the general 'resources' of waste and the Czech Republic. Areas of uneconomic food use will be identified and an option of their alternative use. The main method which will be used is literary research. The practical work will be devoted to surveys at household level at the final consumer. By using an analytical approach to evaluating collected data, answers to questions on consumer wastage issues will be obtained. The work also deals with the reduction of food waste in all parts of the food chain - from primary production to household. It also deals with food banks. Further, there are presented the impacts of the waste, and the legislation is mentioned at the border. Finally, there are activities against wastage and some examples of solving this problem both in the world and in the Czech Republic.

Food aid and food banks in the fight against poverty in the Czech Republic

The diploma thesis on the topic of Food Aid and Food Banks in the Fight Against Poverty in the Czech Republic endeavours to look into the issue of poverty and presents food aid and food banks in the Czech Republic as a possible tool in the fight against it. The aim of this work is to present the activities of the food banks in the Czech Republic, to describe their structure, to point out the significance of food aid, the importance of cooperation between the food banks and organizations that fight hunger and poverty, to give information about the European Union FEAD project and finally to present the management of a food bank. The first part of the work describes the basic issues, deals with poverty, concepts of poverty and measuring poverty, since these are directly linked to food aid and are connected with the idea of food banks. It zooms in on the concepts associated with poverty, such as material deprivation and social exclusion, and points to the fact that it is necessary to see poverty in the broader context and to focus on other dimensions of poverty, such as health, education, access to services and security. The second part of the work specifically deals with food aid and the food bank project. It focuses on the right to food as the right of all people to full observance of human rights in the area of food and nutrition, it defines human rights with a focus on social rights, including the legislative regulation of the right to food in international documents. This section also introduces the types and forms of food aid and global organizations fighting against hunger and poverty. The work deals with European food aid in more detail, it presents the activities of the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived, and also the Operational Programme of Food and Material Assistance in the Czech Republic. Special attention is given to food banks, their mission and goals, it focuses on the activities of the food banks in the Czech Republic, describes their structure, management and highlights the significance of food aid and the importance of cooperation between the food banks and organizations that fight hunger and poverty. This thesis brings comprehensive information on the issue of food aid and the food banks project in the fight against poverty and can contribute to an understanding of the importance of such assistance.

The target of this bachelor thesis is to explain the basic facts and problems of food waste in the Czech Republic. The descriptive part consist of all issues and differentiate terminology, food loss, food waste, and virtual water. The main research method used is literature research which is based on empirical -- analytic approach to evaluate data collected and assist researcher to get answers to questions: Why is important to deal with food waste? How much is being wasted in the Czech Republic. However, it also seeks to presents governmental and non-governmental initiatives adopted to address the problem. The thesis suggestion is focused on food storage banks as a solution to the problem. It also recommends that better strategies from other countries should be employed. The task is also to create own solutions, because food waste is a difficult economic, environmental, social and ethical problem, which should be solved by all countries in the world.
